Inside the Gate: Burren Farm Experience (Sun 31st Aug 2025)

This Inside the Gate Open Farm Day is organised by Farming For Nature and is an opportunity to see visit a farm and see the important work that farmers do for nature in your local community. This is a free event, open to families, and will be held on different farms across the country on Sunday August 31st. But you must register to attend as numbers are limited (first come, first served).

What to expect

The O’Rourke family manage a 500-acre farm in the Burren County Clare. The cattle finishing farming system is complimented by a successful on-site agri-tourism business. The farm is a mix of green land, mature hazel woodland, limestone pavement, turlough and species rich grassland. Part of the farm is within the Burren National Park and Lough Bunny is situated on the land.

Some highlights may include:

• Meet the farmer and tour the farm.
• Join us for an exciting Open Day at Burren Farm! Explore the Burren Farm Experience, meet the cattle, and learn about sustainable farming practices. Don’t miss the chance to taste and purchase our locally produced Burren Premium Beef.
• You will get to see our cows and our ringfort.

Other information:

• We have a suitable place inside for a picnic so bring some if you wish.
• We will be offering light refreshments on the day like tea/coffee/scones in lieu of a donation.
• We will be selling beef products so please bring some cash if you would like some to take home.
• This event is ok for buggies in the farmyard but not wheelchair access.
• There will be a loo available.
