A Natural Selection

We are proud to be Farming for Nature Ambassadors, and this exclusive guided safari will bring you around our working farm as we take you from one landscape to another. Marvel at the karst limestone landscape, then look closer to see the life bursting from the deep cracks of every grike. Wander into our protected alluvial woodland, one of the very few remaining ancient Irish rainforests left and learn all about Ireland’s native plants and their value in the old world. Visit the many monuments and relics from centuries before like Shantaghphubble Chapel, the old Cart Road and the pre-famine settlement. Walk with us to meet our Hereford cows, our friendly, healthy herd that stays outside all year round thanks to the warmth of the limestone.

A delicate purple plant emerges from the rocks, highlighting nature's beauty in a rugged landscape.

No Harm Farming

The best way to farm in this unusual place is to do what history tells us works. That means, a hands-off, ‘let them roam’ approach to raising cows – an approach that often means that cows can be outside all year round following the ancient ‘winterage’ practice. We have smaller herd numbers so we can let the land rest in summer.

Depending on the time of year, we can tailor your visit with activities like open air cooking, rustic picnics and historical food trails, so get in touch today to begin planning your visit.
